Symbolic Map

Picture
The symbolic art is the Project we did that also talks about ourselves. The objective of the project was to, through symbols, represent myself. There had to be at least 10 symbols. There also needed to be at least 7 land features on the map and tons of details. In every map, there is a compass rose, which in this project also needed to be unique and representative. The materials used were: for the plan paper, pencil, and colors; and for the final product a big white cardboard, a bigger colored cardboard for the back, pencil, paint, and brushes.

I did have some trouble during this project because I never had basic knowledge about drawing with details or painting. I did have a hard time trying to make it look good, and still ended up not being what I wanted. I´m not very into doing details either, that’s why I didn’t get a very good grade on details and craftsmanship. The only east part of the project was choosing the symbols.

Sketches

The slideshow has pictures of some of the sketches I’ve made since 9th grade. Every week, we need to make a sketch and every month the teacher checked and graded them. as you can see throughout the pictures, I’ve actually improved in this class. I obviously didn’t put all of the sketches I’ve done because there are too many and some are not very nice. When doing these sketches we have the freedom to choose to do whatever we want to do. It can be either a drawing, a collage, writing, or anything, as long as it´s complete and thoughtful. In the beginning I mostly did collages or simple drawings because it was the easiest for me, but later on I started drawing better and better and now I prefer to draw abstract things with markers, or like the last ones with paint.
